In this workshop we will explore techniques used to create a compelling narrative to build out your own piece of written work over the course of the day. Writing prompts, exploring visual components of living and working with plants, time to draft your gardening essay or story and finally, sharing (voluntary) your work for immediate feedback.
The Agenda
10 – 10:30 – Coffee / Tea, fresh fruit and Introductions
10:30 – 11:30 – Loosen your groove with short writing prompts and analysis of published work
11:30 – 12:30 – Design your Vision Board
Cut apart imagery from magazines or create your own sketches to dream up a visual experience of what you might wish your botanical project to be.
Media will be provided (paper, colored pencils, magazines)
12:30 – 1: Lunch – Vegan Soup with (V, GF, Veg., Non-Veg) salad sides to complement. 1:00 – 2:00 – Assemble your ideas into an essay or short story
2:00 – 3:00 – Sharing (not required). Read your work aloud for immediate feedback. Sharing is suggested, not required.
Closing – Don’t forget to network!
What to Bring: Your favorite notebook and writing tools, a favorite tool from your botanical adventures, or a picture of one. (For example: a garden tool, a picture of your tractor or your flower press) Magazines ready to be re-purposed
