Beginning Computer Literacy


Computer skills are essential for participating in 21st century life. You will learn the basics of operating a computer system including: computer  hardware and software, using a keyboard and mouse,  basics of using the Windows operating system,  how to manage files and folders in Windows, understanding the Internet and the World Wide Web, how to access, search for, and evaluate information on the Internet, how to read, send and manage e-mail, how to create basic word processing documents in Microsoft Word, how to use a computer to assist in a job search, and computer-based testing skills. This is the first of two computer literacy courses which will also assist in preparation for taking the Computer Skills Placement Accuplacer test. (This class is free to eligible participants; a placement test may be required to determine eligibility.)
