English for Speakers of other Languages (ESL)
ESL classes are free to eligible students. Multiple levels and subjects are offered mornings, afternoons and evenings at Dover Adult Learning Center, 61 Locust Street in Dover, in the McConnell Community Center next to the Dover Public Library.
US Citizenship
Learn about US government, history and the responsibilities & opportunities of democratic life. Curriculum based on US citizenship application & test questions. Appropriate for intermediate or advanced ESL students. Work on English skills & vocabulary through focused readings, class discussion and small group activities. Includes film on what makes for successful citizenship interview and a live, simulated interview.
Civics Reading and Discussion Group
We will be doing some reading and a lot of discussion. Practice your pronunciation, work on your grammar, learn some new words, and share your ideas. Each week you will look at some aspect of living in America choosing from: American culture and society and both the joys and challenges of coming to live in the US, events and famous people in US history, US law in day to day life, community resources, issues in current events and politics and Geography facts and skills.
