Just in time for the holidays!  There is not a doubt that certain smells remind you of the holidays.  We will be creating room sprays with a holiday scent.  You will want to keep several on hand in the bathroom, guest room, your bedroom, just to name a few.  These are a nontoxic alternative to ring in the holidays.  We will create four blends to take home, along with the recipe sheet for the entire collection.

Merv Faulkner

Merv Faulkner is a teacher of chemistry and is the Dover Shockwave Robotics coach at Dover High School. Mr. Faulkner retired as Chief Radioman in 1995 from the United States Navy after serving twenty-one years. He served on three submarines, one surface ship and several shore stations.  He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry with a minor in Oceanography from Old Dominion University in 2002. He has been teaching chemistry and mathematics for fourteen years. Mr. Faulkner’s interests include: long-distance hiking, rugby, and world travel.

Engaging Our History

In this course, students will investigate key events in United States history with an eye to critical thinking.  Beginning in the Colonial period and stopping at various points and events in our shared timeline, we’ll look at important events and the people involved from several different perspectives, writing and thinking about the facts and myths of the stories we’ve all been told.  Students will be expected to read extensively (sometimes 20-30 pages between classes) and write through a variety of genres, including response and analysis.

Introduction to Beekeeping

In this session you will receive an overview of keeping bees with brief presentation about the time, commitment and financial considerations involved with this hobby.  EAS certified Master Beekeeper, Brian Pride, will review the equipment necessary to establish you own hive and options for placement of hives at various locations.  Seasonal management of hives, pests and diseases and products of the hive will be discussed.  This is an interactive program, with time allotted for demonstrations, questions and answers.

Mike has been playing harmonica since the age of fifteen. Years ago he left the seacoast area of Maine, moving to the deep south.  This move influenced his love of rural blues.  Accompanied by his wife Bev, Mike performs in public schools, retirement centers and public concerts bringing his love of the harmonica to special need students and the general population in for the form of concerts and harmonica workshops.  During the International Paralympics in 1996 in Atlanta, GA Mike and Bev were part of the Very Special Arts performances.  They also participated in the 1999 International Very Special Arts Conference in Los Angeles, CA representing Maine and Georgia.
